See Some Frequently Asked Questions About Chiropractic Treatment

What to expect at my visits?

First visit (initial Assessment): The length will be 1 hour, and will include a thorough history and physical. Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete any intake forms, and wear/bring shorts, t-shirt, and your normal shoes. After your examination, Dr. Morgan will discuss her findings, diagnosis, and treatment plan with you. At this point if you consent to your treatment plan, most patients receive treatments on their first visits, time permitting.

Subsequent visits: Each subsequent visit is 20 minutes in length, and will simply follow your treatment plan, as set out during your initial assessment by Dr. Morgan.

    Are adjustments safe?

Chiropractic is a very safe, and non-invasive therapy for the treatment of many conditions. This being said, any form of treatment has risks to consider. Spinal manipulation can on occasion cause an aggravation of symptoms. Other more rare occasions a patient may experience things such as dizziness, bruising, radiating pain, or increased pain. If these adverse events occur, they are usually minor, and do not last for long. If you have any questions or concerns about a treatment, let Dr. Morgan know and she can give you an in-person explanation.

    Is Chiropractic care safe?

Yes! Chiropractic adjustment is safe when it's performed by someone trained and licensed to deliver chiropractic care.

Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints. Although chiropractic has an excellent safety record, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. The risks associated with chiropractic, however, are very small. Many patients feel immediate relief following chiropractic treatment, but some may experience mild soreness, stiffness or aching, just as they do after some forms of exercise. Current research shows that minor discomfort or soreness following spinal manipulation typically fades within 24 hours.

    What is an adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment (also known as spinal manipulation) is a high velocity, low amplitude manoeuvre, which is applied to a patient’s body by the chiropractor. The goal of manipulation is to reduce pain, improve mobility of the joint, and decrease stiffness.

    What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a medical profession that uses manual techniques to assess, diagnose, and treat conditions relating to the spine, joints, muscles, and nerves of the body

What is the “cracking” or “popping” sound during an adjustment?

The cracking sound you may here during spinal manipulation is simply gas bubbles popping inside of the joint being adjusted. As the gas escapes you hear the audible noise many describe as a ‘crack’.

    Who are chiropractors?

Chiropractors are primary health care providers. They are doctors of chiropractic who have 3-4 years of undergraduate education, followed by 4 years of graduate education at an accredited chiropractic college. They use a multitude of techniques and approaches, all of which are holistic in nature, and try and improve patient’s health and well being

    Will an adjustment hurt?

Adjustments rarely are painful or uncomfortable for patients. Many times patients express immediate relief after a manipulation, and feel better leaving a treatment than when they came in.
